Over the years we think we have been asked every question we are ever going to be asked about getting to a conference, taking part, and getting home. What is ISRP?
The International Society for Respiratory Protection, ISRP, is a non-profit body whose charter is to provide an educational and informational service to all individuals involved in respiratory protection. The Society convenes conferences at various locations around the world at regular intervals. The main purpose of ISRP is to bring together occupational health and safety professionals in the field of respiratory protection to share ideas and research findings.
When is the conference?
The nineteenth ISRP International Conference will be held Sunday, September 16 through Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Denver, Colorado USA.
What is the conference about?
The theme of the conference is “Innovation to Practice in Respiratory Protection.” Each day of the conference will focus on different topics related to this theme. The conference will include presentations, posters, and an exhibition.
Does the conference count towards my continuing education requirements?
This event contains approximately 25 technical contact hours and may be eligible for ABIH CM credit, BCSP, NSPE, ISHM, and other similar organization continuing education credit hours. See ABIH website for CM credit criteria and BCSP website for certification maintenance criteria, or consult your applicable organization’s continuing education requirements. Certificates of attendance will be provided on request.
Should I present a paper or a poster?
We encourage all potential attendees to consider presenting a paper. or a poster. If you think you have something interesting to say on one of the session topics, please consider submitting an abstract.
How long should a presentation be?
Each paper is expected to run for about 20 minutes including 5 minutes for questions and comments. Session Chairs will be under strict instruction to keep to the program on time.

What papers have been accepted?
The technical program area on the web site will have an up-to-date list of those abstracts that have been submitted and accepted. Acceptance will be on a rolling basis. You are encouraged to submit your abstract as soon as possible to avoid the risk of being “bumped” by a similar submission.
What is the daily program?
The technical program each day will have a specific theme. Presentations will concentrate on topics related to the daily theme. Each day we will have keynote speakers to introduce the theme for the day. However the conference is about more than scientific presentations. We start on Sunday with a welcome reception. On Monday evening we will have a social event, Tuesday there is an exhibition for manufacturers, test houses, and other organizations associated with respiratory protection to display their products and services. On Wednesday the ISRP Annual General Meeting will be held, followed by the awards ceremony and dinner. The “Country Casual” Awards dinner will be followed by a demonstration of line dancing. All are encouraged to put on your Stetson hat and cowboy boots and join the fun.
How much does it cost?
We have put a fees overview in the Registration section. There are full conference and daily rates, plus discounts for presenters and early bird applicants. The conference is priced in U.S. Dollars ($). Early bird rates are based on budgeted number of registrations and are expected to expire in June. Members receive a significant discount on registration in addition to the benefits of being an ISRP member such as access to the Journal of the ISRP.

How do I obtain an invitation letter?
Invitation letters in support of VISA applications will be provided to registered delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, and invited speakers. Contact denver.registration@isrp.com to request an invitation letter. Please include your full name as it appears on your passport, and country from which you are applying for a VISA to the United States. Please note that the letter of invitation does not guarantee entry to the United States of America and that the ISRP 2018 Denver Conference committee will not directly contact embassies and consulates on behalf of delegates.
What is the local currency?
The local currency is the U.S. dollar.
How do I pay?
We prefer that you pay via our PayPal account, using authorised credit or debit cards. However it is possible to pay via bank transfer.
Can I come just for a day?
Yes, there are daily rates available. However the Awards Dinner is free only to full-week conference attendees.
Should my company be a sponsor?
ISRP relies on the goodwill and generosity of sponsoring organizations to make the conference a success and financially viable. By sponsoring the conference you will receive special benefits as well as a number of advertising opportunities. Details about the sponsorship are forthcoming.
Is there an exhibition?
Yes. An exhibition has been arranged for Tuesday Lunchtime/early afternoon. Details about the exhibition are forthcoming.
If I come to the exhibition, can I come to the lectures too?
If you are manning the conference stands on Tuesday and you have the time, then you may purchase a lunch ticket on-site. It is priced reasonably to recoup a portion of our costs for lunch and breaks provided to the attendees on that day. As an exhibitor you will then have access to the technical sessions and lunch on Tuesday.
How do I travel around Denver?

Which is the Conference Hotel?
The conference is being held at the Westin Denver. The organizing committee has negotiated a very competitive rate for this conveniently located quality downtown. Can a partner come along?
We welcome all partners to Denver. Partners of attendees can attend the Sunday reception free of charge. However, guests have to purchase a ticket for the Wednesday Awards Dinner – but it is well worth it! With our “Country Casual” theme for the awards dinner this year we anticipate the dinner being fun for all.
What would partners do if they came along?
Denver is a great place for sightseeing and has many attractions! The conference venue is close to the main attractions. The Westin is conveniently located on the 16th Street Mall where a free shuttle runs from 00 00 to 00 00. There is a lot of information available on the Visit Denver tourism site.
What is the weather like that time of year?
In most years, Denver averages a daily maximum temperature for September that’s between 74 and 81 degrees Fahrenheit (23 to 27 degrees Celsius). The minimum temperature usually falls between 45 and 50 °F (7 to 10 °C). The days at Denver begin to cool down quickly during September
What about security?
Denver is a business as well as a tourist destination. It is not immune from the attention of unsavory elements such as pick-pockets, who operate in the most popular tourist areas. As long as you take the normal sensible precautions needed in popular tourist areas around the world, then you should have no difficulties.
What about refunds?
If for reasons outside of your control you find you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible at denver.registration@isrp.com. If a refund is requested prior to 16 September 2018 we should be able to refund your registration fees minus applicable transactions fees. Refunds after the conference begins are not guaranteed.
