NIOSH Announces Winners of the Respirator Fit Evaluation Challenge
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has announced the winners of the third and final phase of the Respirator Fit Evaluation Challenge.
This Challenge was a comprehensive, three-phase competition with a total prize pool of $350,000, aimed at enhancing the evaluation of respirator fit. The goal was to discover practical solutions that provide real-time feedback on the fit of filtering facepiece respirators. Participants advanced through Phase 1 by submitting concept papers detailing their innovative ideas. In Phase 2, they developed and demonstrated prototypes of their solutions. In the final phase, the winners presented fully functional prototypes for NIOSH's evaluation.
